A practical guide to running a successful 30-hour (15-lesson) short film project in English with (pre-)intermediate students: planning, lessons, evaluation, deliverables, samples and experiences, plus ideas for other projects.

Project Overview (Short Film Project)

Purpose. Produce a short film in the target language. Note: the project could be done in ANY LANGUAGE, not just English.

Process. The script for the film is produced step-by-step. After the students select their topic they write the main idea, then the outline and finally go through a cycle of writing drafts
of the script that have to be corrected until the final version of the script is ready.

To produce the film, the students attend a short workshop where they record and edit a test film introducing their team.

During the term the teams present the status of their work three times in class.

Every lesson teams make a planning and discuss planning and progress with the teacher.

All documents are collected in the team portfolio.
